The original mark carried inconsistencies, with irregular glyphs and structural imbalances that didn’t align with the precision and performance Vercel stands for. Since we were already developing Geist, their custom typeface, we took the opportunity to redesign the logo alongside it, ensuring a seamless visual language across all touchpoints.

The result was a purified, refined emblem with cleaner geometry, improved balance, and optimized scalability, reinforcing Vercel’s position as a category leader while staying true to its bold, minimalist aesthetic.

Owning the Stage: Next.js Conf & Vercel Ship

Vercel doesn’t just launch products, they create industry moments. From Next.js Conf to Vercel Ship, we designed and executed the whole event experience, crafting everything from stage visuals, motion graphics, keynote assets, marketing collateral and digital campaigns.

Redefining an Icon: The Next.js Logo Evolution

As Next.js became the framework of choice for developers worldwide, its logo needed to reflect its evolution. We took on the challenge of refining an already iconic mark, making it sharper, more dynamic, and optimized for scalability.

Working closely with the Vercel team, we refined the grid, angles, and letterforms to ensure consistency, readability, and bold visual presence. The design embraced a retro-futuristic aesthetic, drawing inspiration from tech pioneers like Steve Jobs and Paul Rand while aligning with the sleek precision of SpaceX and Tesla.

Beyond a Logo: A Strategic Move

The redesigned Next.js logo debuted at a significant Vercel product launch in 2022, marking a bold step forward for the brand. With improved usability, stronger brand recognition, and enhanced versatility, the new logo isn’t just a design upgrade—it’s a strategic investment in Next.js’s long-term growth and market leadership. This evolution aligned Next.js with its future ambitions, reinforcing its status as the industry standard for modern web development.

A Typeface Built for the Future: The Story of Geist

Geist started as a bold idea: Vercel needed a custom typeface that embodied their precision, speed, and developer-first ethos. We designed a type system that’s sleek, functional, and built for performance, with both a sans-serif and monospaced version optimized for UI, marketing, and code environments.

Inspired by Swiss modernist typography, Geist became more than a design choice—it’s now a core brand asset that strengthens Vercel’s identity across every touchpoint. With over 1.5 million downloads, it has quickly become a go-to typeface for developers and designers worldwide, reinforcing Vercel’s presence at the forefront of the modern web.
